Mustang Grapes

After a very prolific dewberry season, grapes from Mustang grapevines at Indianola are starting to ripen. This was no doubt a favorite time of year for the German settlers who knew more than a little about winemaking. The Steiner Settlement (present day Coletoville) settled in the 1850's once produced 2000 gallons of wine per year from the native Texas grapes.
